Welcome Back to School

Welcome back!  We've had a great start to the school year!  There are a few things I want to address as I've had several questions arise.

1st... Medications.

All prescription medication to be administered at school must be:
a. in the original container labeled with:
1. students name
2. name of the medication
3. directions for administration (dosage, frequency, duration, route of administration)
4. date the prescription was dispensed
5. doctor’s name
6. name and address of pharmacy
b. accompanied by a parent/guardian written request for administration which does not conflict with instructions on the medication label
c. doctor’s written statement when medication is to be given (daily or as needed) longer than 10 days

Also, Parents are encouraged to schedule the administration of student’s medicine so that medication brought to school will be kept at a minimum. If the medication is to be given one (1), two (2), or three (3) times a day, those medications need to be given at home unless we receive a medication order from the physician that states is must be given during the school day.

2nd...Screenings

I will begin screening 3rd and 5th grade for vision and hearing after the Labor Day Holiday.  If your child fails, you will receive either a phone call from me or a letter sent home with your child.

Lions Club will have a free vision clinic for students who qualify.  As soon as I get those dates, I will let you all know!

That's all for now!  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns regarding your child's health at school!  You can reach me by calling the office or emailing me christi.crow@commerceisd.org

Thanks for sharing your children with me!
